Our Bigs Class
“Meg and I have prepared a full curriculum. The classroom environment is designed so that the children learn to cherish personal responsibility as well as build a strong foundation in the pre-reading concepts. They are already learning how their behavior impacts others; how who they are and how they behave makes an enormous difference in the larger world that surrounds them.
Some of our beginning projects include mixing colors leading to the discovery of orange, purple and green. It is so inspiring to observe the inner essence of smiling faces transform red and yellow into Orange.
We will continue to practice: Letter names and sounds; 2 and 3 dimensional shapes; ‘look a-likes’ and ‘go-togethers’; Diretions such as under, over, around and through; Opposites; Sorting; Arranging; Sequencing; Counting; Odd and even; Big, bigger, biggest; Long, longer, longest.
In addition, we will identify everyday objects: Sings; Directions; Colors; Sounds; Rules; Marvelous magical words — ‘please’, ‘thank you’, ‘excuse me’, and ‘I’m sorry’”
