Transitional Kindergarten provides a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for your 4 year old child. Choosing the right environment can be the springboard for your child to thrive for a lifetime of learning and unlock their true potential. While public schools have been the traditional choice, Montessori TK gives your child a safe unique environment that can offer more return on your most precious investment, your child.

The Montessori TK classroom environment offers a child centered approach. The teacher prepares the environment so that the child may independently choose activities that are of interest to them, and take responsibility for their learning environment. The class size is generally a 6:1 ratio so the teacher has more time to spend with each child. The public school TK is a structured teacher led approach that may not always offer the same autonomy found in a Montessori environment. The class size is generally a 12:1 ratio with larger class sizes.

The Montessori TK classroom curriculum offers an organic approach that teaches abstract concepts such as math and language in a concrete manner. The materials are designed to fit young hands and are esthetically pleasing. The public school TK focuses on standardized academic readiness, phonemic awareness, worksheets, rote memorization, and online learning making it challenging to meet the diverse needs of the children and learning styles.

The Montessori TK approach focuses on holistic growth such as social, emotional, and physical growth. Montessori extends beyond traditional activities incorporating cultural, science, zoology, and botany. Public school TK focuses on academic readiness and uses worksheets and structured activities.

At Montessori in Motion, we believe in  building a strong partnership with parents using regular open communication and updates about our child's progress.  Our small class sizes allow for more personalized attention that your child will receive. Public TK communicates with parents as well however, the larger class sizes may limit the amount of personalized attention that your child receives.
